Spencer County Fiscal Court approves two zoning changes after planning commission recommendations

Commissioner Osborne moved to recommend the change, Commissioner Travis seconded, and the fiscal court later moved to approve the zoning based on the planning and zoning facts and findings. The motion passed by voice vote.
The court also approved a separate application from Mark Barnett to rezone a 5.3301‑acre tract at 4455 Ellersville Road from R‑1 to an agricultural classification (AG‑1/AG‑2). Planning recommended a medium‑density residential designation on the comprehensive plan; the court approved the planning commission’s recommendation by voice vote.
Court members said the documents supporting the decisions — including staff findings and redlined ordinance language showing removed or added provisions — will be made available to interested local governments and to the public, and staff agreed to supply copies to city officials who had questions about differences between municipal and county draft language.
The decisions were procedural approvals based on the planning and zoning record; no appeals or implementation steps were taken at the meeting.
