Trinity Solar proposal for seven panels at 859 West Yarmouth Road tabled for efficiency and shading review

Brandon LeBrent, representing Trinity Solar, presented a proposal at the Nov. 25 Old Kings Highway meeting to install seven matte-black solar panels across the front roof of 859 West Yarmouth Road.

LeBrent said the panels would face West Yarmouth Road and that the homeowner (listed as Kelly Warren in the application packet) authorized the submission. Committee members raised concerns about the light-gray roof color, the shallow pitch and potential visibility from the public way. Several members suggested the applicant model output if the array were placed on the rear roof, where tree line shading might reduce efficiency but where panels would be less visible from the roadway.

LeBrent offered to have his design team run production and shading scenarios for the back roof and to return with numbers showing whether a rear installation could meet the homeowner’s production goals without excessive additional cost. After questions from the board and the absence of in-room abutters to comment, the committee voted to table the application pending the requested efficiency/placement analysis.

Next steps: Trinity Solar will return with a revised siting/production report and recommendations for how to balance visibility and energy production so the committee can revisit the application.
