Historic Commission representatives told the board they evaluated three locations — a private Liberty Hill parcel, the Yarmouth Port Green and Thatcher Park — and recommended a less-used back-triangle area or a side position near the playground so the monument would be both historically appropriate and minimally obstructive. The commission said the stone will take six to eight months to procure and urged the board to confirm a site so design work can proceed.
