Swartz said the sign to the right has been in place and he proposed replacing it with a backlit list of services; he noted two connected units in the strip and said the second unit’s old sign was functionally obsolete. "That sign is in place," Swartz said of the existing fixture. Board members discussed precedent in business centers and whether a single larger sign or two matching signs would be preferable; they concluded a variance was appropriate and moved to approve the petitioner’s proposal. The petitioner also withdrew any separate special‑permit request without prejudice.
The motion to grant variance relief passed unanimously by voice vote. The board reminded the petitioner of the standard 20‑day appeal period after the decision is filed with the town clerk.
