Consultants present draft Community Wildfire Protection Plan for Fairbanks North Star Borough

Tom Marsh, CEO of Bentel, told the Assembly Regional Emergency Service Advisory Committee on Monday that consultants are nearing completion of a draft Community Wildfire Protection Plan (CWPP) for the Fairbanks North Star Borough and have opened a public-comment period ahead of borough review.
The draft package includes a main plan and four appendices (about 50 pages in total), plus an interactive GIS map that lists mitigation recommendations as discrete projects, Marsh said. "These plans provide a scientific analysis of fire behavior," Marsh said, adding that the plan is written to help the borough prioritize projects and improve odds of securing federal grant funding, including CWDG grants.
