CAPSA outlines expansion into Preston, reports hundreds of regional crisis calls

Boyd said CAPSA answered 269 crisis calls from Preston residents in the previous 12 months and provided direct services to 58 individuals from the city; he noted the larger regional operation answered 8,612 crisis calls across Cache Valley and the Bear Lake area last year. CAPSA owns 21 homes used for placements and said it is fundraising to acquire a fourplex in Preston to improve local housing support for survivors.
Boyd described CAPSA’s local partnerships, including an arrangement to use office space provided by Franklin County Medical Center for staff visiting Preston, and emphasized collaboration with law-enforcement partners to assist survivors with protective orders and court processes. He asked the council to sign a pledge board to demonstrate municipal support and publicize CAPSA’s presence in Preston.
Council members asked clarifying questions about the geographic scope of the reported calls and applauded CAPSA’s local presence and partnerships. The council agreed to participate in the pledge and representatives planned to sign the board following the presentation. Boyd encouraged councilors and the public to tour CAPSA facilities and noted plans for billboard outreach to raise awareness of services in Preston.
CAPSA’s presentation concluded with the organization’s request for continued municipal support as it expands services in the city.
