Pike County fiscal court authorizes temporary transfer and multiple payments to advance Wolf Pit Industrial Park

"Authorize the standing order for temporary cash transfers to the AML fund from the general fund to pay invoices for the Wolf Pit Industrial Park up to $700,000," Treasurer Frankie told the court, which voted unanimously to approve the request after a motion by Commissioner Absher and a second by Commissioner Atkins.
The court also authorized a $178,637.38 check to American Electric Power to fund three‑phase overhead power to the Wolf Pit Industrial Park. Commissioner Atkins moved the payment and Commissioner Scott seconded; roll call was yes by all members present.
As part of its fiscal business, the court approved an $18,894 brokerage fee to Jones Lang LaSalle for negotiating a renegotiated Coca‑Cola building lease, to be paid from the LGDEF recapture fund. Judge Jones praised county staff and partners for securing higher lease income from the tenant.
In addition, the court authorized partial payments totaling $79,083.35 to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for cost shares on the Patek Laviza flood‑proofing project: $65,005.15 from DLG funds and $13,568 from ARC funds. The motion for the Army Corps payment passed on a unanimous roll call.
Why it matters: The temporary transfer is intended to bridge cash flow while AML — the Abandoned Mine Lands program referenced by the treasurer — completes reimbursement, enabling the county to pay contractors and utility providers and keep the Wolf Pit project moving forward.
What comes next: Treasurer Frankie and staff will process invoices and the county expects repayment from AML when reimbursement arrives. The court approved the payments during the July 22 meeting and did not attach additional conditions.
