Jefferson County commissioners approve contracts, ARPA funding and appointments; amend tax abatement agreement

Jefferson County’s Commissioners Court on Dec. 3 approved multiple procurement awards and budget items, authorized an amendment to a tax abatement agreement for Energy Transfer/Pinnacle Top LLC and confirmed several appointments, including a new veteran services officer.

Roderick Blewett, a manager with QualityMat Company, used the public-comment period to urge the court to approve an amendment extending an existing tax abatement agreement. Blewett said the extension would help local manufacturers retain ‘‘hundred plus employees’’ and continue contributing to the regional economy, and asked that industry be included in planning and held accountable to contract terms.

The court considered and approved a set of procurement and contract items read into the record by the county judge, including an invitation for bids for liquid soil stabilizer, an IFB for Doggett Ford Park Midway Rehabilitation, and an IFB for a mosquito-control aircraft. The court also authorized contract renewals and extensions, including a proposed lease renewal for Hangar Number 5 at Jack Brooks Regional Airport, and extensions for security services and inmate shoe contracts.
