Sunnyside’s vehicle carried a certified pre‑owned warranty (four years/48,000 miles) and better terms; Fenton recommended awarding to Sunnyside. The court approved purchasing two vans from Sunnyside — one at $48,190 and a second at $47,190 — for a combined total of $95,380 to meet increased transport needs tied to federal contracts. The purchase was authorized and payment was approved by roll call.
Court members cited revenue potential from federal inmate transport contracts as a rationale for the purchase, and noted that the county will maintain the vehicles and may use standard county procedures and staff for upkeep.
