Jefferson County approves $11.68 million LPPF transfer and other disbursements

Jefferson County commissioners on Nov. 12 approved county-auditor items that included an $11,682,933.27 electronic disbursement to the state comptroller for the county's Local Provider Participation Fund (LPPF) as part of the comprehensive hospital reimbursement program.
During discussion, a county official summarized how the LPPF works: "LPPF funds are paid to Jefferson County from local hospitals a percentage of their patient care. We maintain it on behalf of the hospital to the state of Texas. It does not intermingle with any governmental funds and it is not from our taxpayers." The official said the county currently holds approximately $20 million in the account.
The auditor's package also included a wire transfer of $47,225.86 to fund a Hurricane Harvey home buyout through the Texas General Land Office program for a property on Boondocks Road, an electronic disbursement of $624.82 to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for insurance reimbursements, authorization of an ARPA van funding request for Land Manor in the amount of $57,051.77, and an electronic payment of $385,926.78 to LaSalle Correctional for inmate housing revenue.
Commissioner Alford moved the auditor items; Commissioner Selengoff seconded. The court voted "aye" and approved the disbursements.
