The court commended the program and its local volunteers.
Luke Landry, identified as Jefferson County Youth Council president and a Texas 4‑H student ambassador, told the court Jefferson County’s 4‑H offers seven clubs, about 90 youth members and 26 adult volunteers, and runs enrichment programming countywide. "Our goal is to encourage 4‑H members to take one Saturday in October to give back to the community," Landry said, noting the local "1 Day 4‑H" event would be held October 12 and listing planned activities including work at the Giving Field Community Garden, food collection for the Southeast Texas Food Bank and creating care packages for hurricane‑affected residents.
Commissioners thanked the youth delegation and invited them forward to receive tokens of appreciation. The proclamation was adopted without a roll‑call vote.
