Jefferson County approves budget amendments, grants and permits; several routine items passed

At its Oct. 1 meeting, the Jefferson County Commissioners Court approved a set of routine fiscal, grant and permitting items across departments.
The court approved a fiscal year 2025 budget amendment for the district attorney to replace a wrecked vehicle in the amount of $58,265 and approved an electronic disbursement of $624.82 to the Texas Department of Criminal Justice for October insurance reimbursements. The court also received and filed resolutions authorizing county grants for the Texas Department of Agriculture home-delivered meal grant program and for the Center for Christian Services, United Board of Missions (these programs had been approved in prior sessions and were received for the record).
Under the sheriff's department agenda the court authorized an interlocal agreement among Jefferson County and the cities of Beaumont and Port Arthur for asset sharing tied to the 2020 Byrne Justice Assistance Grant Program; Jefferson County's allocation of $17,612 is budgeted for sheriff's computer equipment. The court also approved a resolution recognizing Patricia Molfino on her retirement.
The court received and filed the county investment schedule for August 2024 and approved the 2024–25 investment policies and procedures. It approved the Jefferson County Tourism Committee's hotel occupancy tax allocation recommendations for the fall 2024 grant round. Under engineering, the court approved the plat for Sour Lake Moore addition (3.354 acres into lots 1–5 in Precinct 1, in the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Beaumont) and authorized an overweight vehicle permit and road use agreement with Energy Transfer Natural Gas Liquids for construction of a pump station at 3350 South County Road (Precinct 1).
Several items were tabled earlier in the meeting, including a purchasing amendment for interpreted services (see separate coverage). District clerk items were also tabled until next week.
