Commissioners approve purchasing items, contract renewals, crime-lab travel and sheriff’s donated canine

The court also approved removal and disposition of a 2021 Ford F-150 from the sheriff’s inventory due to a vehicle accident and the disposal of a Larson Roller shelf as scrap property.
Under auditing and departmental items, the court approved a $133,368 wire transfer related to a Hurricane Harvey home buyout purchased through the Texas General Land Office Community Development Block Grant for the 11514 Cunifer Road property, budget transfers including a $200,000 jail food amendment, and accepted an out-of-state travel request for crime-lab staff to attend the Southwestern Association of Forensic Scientists conference in Little Rock, Ark. (Oct. 6–10). The sheriff’s office accepted a donated Belgian Malinois canine from the Department of Defense Working Dog Adoption Program; the cost of the canine is fully covered by the federal program. Finally, the county treasurer’s request for a $62 wire transfer payment to Wells Fargo Securities for an August 2024 safekeeping fee was approved.
