Stubblefield said the measure is "really very simple" and that exceptions would apply for vehicles carrying hazardous waste and for passenger-carrying vehicles (the sponsor noted a passenger limit of up to 15, including the driver). Committee members asked what the current threshold is; the sponsor confirmed it is 10,000 pounds and that the bill would move that to 26,000.
There was no public testimony for or against the bill during the committee meeting. Senator Hill moved the bill; Senator Gardner seconded. The committee approved the measure by voice vote.
