Judiciary Committee approves batch of technical corrections to Titles 4, 6, 8 and 9
Summary
The Senate Judiciary Committee unanimously passed four technical-corrections bills (HB 1278, HB 1280, HB 1281 and HB 1282) that standardize terminology, correct entity names, add internal references and clarify petition language across multiple code titles.
Senator Tucker presented a first batch of technical-corrections bills from the Code Revision Commission and the Judiciary Committee approved all four items without public testimony or substantive debate.
House Bill 1278 makes technical corrections to Title 4, updating terminology such as replacing references to "articles of organization" with "certificate of organization" to conform with a law passed in a prior session. House Bill 1280 addresses style and naming corrections in Title 6 (for example, conforming a grade reference and correcting entity names and internal references). House Bill 1281 updates Title 8 by replacing an obsolete reference related to veterans' occupational licensing, deleting an unused definition and clarifying that a report is monthly. House Bill 1282 amends Title 9 to clarify the type of order-of-protection petition being filed.
Each bill was moved, seconded and the chair called for the ayes; the chair announced each bill had passed. The committee did not record amendments or set follow-up assignments during the meeting.
