North Ogden city staff demonstrated a redesigned NorthOgdenCity.gov website during the council meeting, showing new features intended to improve resident access to agendas, minutes, calendar events, park reservations and online forms.
City recorder Ryan led a live demonstration of the site, highlighting quick links (including a garbage-day scheduler), a searchable calendar with separate feeds for meetings and senior-center events, and an integrated document center that stores agendas, packets, minutes and audio. Ryan also showed a new online reservation and payment function for park pavilions and a forthcoming employee portal for benefits and agenda-item requests. "When you click on the calendar, you'll see that we have a master, we have a meeting 1, we have events, and we have a separate 1 for senior center," Ryan said.
Council members asked staff to ensure the site redirects old links to the new domain, to replace draft budget files with final versions in the document center, and to provide direct navigation from the 'Government' menu to boards and commissions. Staff noted the search capability is improved over the old site, but minutes are not yet searchable as text; staff said they will follow up to ensure final documents are posted and old URLs are redirected.
Next steps: staff will correct a few content items (budget PDFs, redirects), investigate making minutes fully searchable, and publicize the new site to residents.
