The North Ogden City Council approved Resolution 07/2024 on Oct. 22 to amend the city’s sponsorships and events policy to include Weber Communities of Care (Weber CTC) among the organizations eligible to use city facilities, such as the senior center, without rental fees for certain non-public partnered events.
City manager John Call explained that the proposed policy change creates a new category to allow specified partner organizations to use facilities for private (non-public) events without being charged the nonprofit rental rate. Staff recommended adding Weber CTC to that partner list to permit a recognition event tentatively scheduled for Nov. 12.
Council members discussed whether adding a group to the partner list could open the door for many other nonprofits to request fee waivers. Some members urged caution about expanding the list; Council member Watson and others noted longstanding partnerships and favored supporting the organization. Council member Watson moved to approve the resolution; Council member Pulver seconded the motion. The motion passed on a roll-call vote.
Staff said they will track private, partner events and report back to the council about frequency and impacts to facility revenue and scheduling.
