North Ogden’s City Council adopted a comprehensive rewrite of the municipal code (ordinance 2024-22) after staff and consultants consolidated and updated numerous titles to address obsolete language and bring the code into better alignment with state law.
City attorney staff told the council the rewrite removed many redundant or archaic provisions and reduced the volume of code language, while preserving necessary standards. Staff noted a handful of policy questions remained for council direction — such as whether amphitheater events could run past 10 p.m. when approved by council — and pledged to implement council‑directed clarifications before publishing the final online version.
Council members raised narrower edits during the discussion (for example, animal ownership numbers and amphitheater/event standards). The council approved the ordinance on a unanimous roll call; staff said that the new municipal code would take effect Jan. 1, 2025.
