The North Ogden City Council unanimously approved staff recommendations for the remaining RDA grant applications and directed that any unallocated dollars be reallocated to city projects such as the aquatic center or future development initiatives.
Scott Hess reviewed a slate of seven recommended projects and said the current allocations totaled about $1.3 million — roughly $80,000 over the amount available — but noted projects are scalable and final disbursements will be reimbursed on a receipts basis. Most award lines were framed as dollar-for-dollar matches and the maximum city contribution per applicant was typically capped at $150,000.
Council members asked how the city should handle any overage or shortfall. Staff recommended either scaling individual awards at bid refinement or reallocating any unused funds into specified city projects; the council directed unspent funds to be returned to a pool for the aquatic center, future development, or other city-priority capital needs, with final budget amendments subject to council appropriation.
Applicants present — including a Big O Tires representative — answered questions about scope and impacts. Big O said reconfiguration of its parking and stormwater work would likely add a handful of formal stalls and address drainage issues. Council and staff stressed that grant approval is separate from site-plan or building approvals; awarded funds would be reimbursed only after approved work is performed and documented.
