"It is going to cost us money to hire employees to do this, but I do think there's a possibility that we actually gain some revenue this way," Recreation Manager (speaker 5) said. Board members noted the model has worked in other city programs (the pool was cited as an example) and that hiring a city employee is easier to reverse than outsourcing.
Members discussed first-year startup costs (POS purchase, Wi-Fi, training) and volunteer relief for parents who now staff stands. No formal vote was taken; staff said it would prepare job description language and bring a hiring timeline to the next council meeting for review.
