During its annual meeting on Nov. 18 the Marshalltown Community School District board completed required fiscal and organizational business.
Business operations staff presented the Treasurer’s Annual Settlement under Iowa Code section 279.33; cash balances as of June 30 were reported at $53,800,000 (compared with $49,400,000 the prior year). The board moved to approve the fiscal‑year 2024 Treasurer’s Annual Settlement as presented and the motion carried.
In one consolidated motion the board appointed Randy Denham as board secretary‑treasurer for the 2024–25 year, named Hawlers & Cooney PC as legal counsel, and designated the Marshalltown Times‑Republican as the district’s official publication; the motion carried 6–0. Denham and other appointees were sworn in.
The board then elected officers for the coming year. Sean Heitman was nominated and elected board president; Sarah Faltas was nominated and elected vice president (motion carried with one abstention). Oaths of office were administered during the meeting.
