District staff also presented quotes for athletic facility improvements and requested authorization to move forward on several projects. Approved items included DC Construction concrete for new softball bleachers ($27,300), American Aluminum Seating Inc. for softball bleacher materials and installation (combined quoted materials and installation items reported at $124,953 plus installation), Bolland Recreation sunshades for the tennis complex ($30,000), and a Musco stadium lighting retrofit (the motion listed $274,781 for lighting materials and an installation cost of $48,000). Board discussion covered ADA access, sequencing to avoid rework, potential USTA grant support for tennis shades and longer‑range considerations for playing-surface improvements and possible turf (estimated rough order-of-magnitude $1.5–2 million for multiple fields). The athletic facilities motion passed 5–1 after discussion about bid details and contractor design responsibility.
District financial staff reported the project remains under the original $10 million estimate, with roughly $2.2 million in projected underrun despite the approved change orders. Staff said outstanding punch‑list items and some epoxy floor work would need to be completed when spaces are less occupied.
