Staff said they discussed the problem with the manufacturer and asked for a written position on responsibility. The committee agreed the parish would pay the contractor upon receipt of an invoice and then seek reimbursement from the pug mill manufacturer once the company’s position and any warranty or remedy are documented.
Separately, the committee reviewed a state-contract quote for a loader to support pug mill operations. Members discussed slightly different figures reported in the record ($303,000 and $308,000) and authorized a recommendation to the jury to purchase the loader off the state contract; staff asked that the item be put on the jury agenda with delivery timing in mind.
Committee members requested documentation from the contractor (invoice from Magnolia) and a response letter from the manufacturer to support any reimbursement claim. No final settlement with the manufacturer was recorded at the meeting.
