Kingsville opens hearings on Somerset at Kingsville final plats; planning staff say notices sent

The Kingsville City Commission opened public hearings on three final plats for the Somerset at Kingsville subdivision during its regular meeting.

City staff and a consultant presented Unit 2B, a 14.27-acre tract out of a larger 54.43-acre parcel; Unit 3, a 9.539-acre tract; and Unit 4, a 17.23-acre tract. A presenter said the Planning and Zoning Commission unanimously approved each final plat at a recent meeting and that the final depictions were displayed on the commission’s meeting screens. The staff representative said the plats match prior preliminary plans and that “there were no major changes to anything.”

Staff said certified notice letters were mailed to property owners within a 200-foot buffer. For Unit 2B the presenter said 60 notice letters were sent; for Unit 4 the presenter said 16 notice letters were sent. Commissioners asked whether nearby Chandler Acres residents received notice; staff said they were notified and clarified that the proposed parcels do not currently connect to Chandler Acres by roads or utilities.

No formal vote to approve any of the three final plats appears in the meeting transcript.
