The Hitchcock City Council recognized a team of police officers for a life‑saving response to a medical emergency on 08/10/2024.
City staff described how Mark Cook suffered a heart attack while working in his yard and officers Garcia, Crenshaw and Denton promptly responded. The officers found Cook unresponsive and without a pulse, administered CPR until paramedics arrived, and helped transport him to the hospital. City staff said the officers’ actions restored Mr. Cook’s pulse and were instrumental in saving his life; Officer Garcia assisted by driving the ambulance while colleagues stayed with the patient.
A council presenter asked the audience to join in congratulating Officers Crenshaw, Denton and Totten Garcia and to thank them for their quick response and heroism. The council paused to present awards and arrange a photograph.
