The Concord Community Preservation Committee set logistics for its Sept. 28 site visits and clarified the process and timing for letters of support and application review on Sept. 24.
Chair Burton Flint said the committee would meet at 9 a.m. in the downstairs library space to convene before visiting nearby sites, including Thoreau School and the Jerome Recreation Area. Staff advised that some applicants could not meet on Saturday and could send representatives instead; the committee emphasized the importance of applicants or a departmental representative being available during site visits.
Members asked staff to seek letters of support when projects touched other town responsibilities. “I would like to see that the Recreation Department is on board,” Flint said about Thoreau and Jerome, urging either a signature on the application or a departmental letter. Anne (staff) confirmed letters of support overall are due Nov. 15.
Paul Bohm suggested seeking backing from watershed or pond task forces for Jerome/Warner’s Pond‑adjacent proposals; Bill Kameza reported the Natural Resources Commission voted to write a letter for the Giroux property and that related endorsements are expected to come forward.
The committee also discussed the Concord Affordable Housing Trust and an older CHDC buy‑down balance. Diane Proctor asked staff to review whether previously recovered funds require additional town meeting procedures; staff replied that money closed out last fiscal year would become available July 1, 2025, and recommended checking with finance for exact timing.
Housekeeping: the committee agreed not to divide the small set of applications among individual members this cycle and instead asked that all members be prepared to review the applications and ask focused questions during interviews and site visits.
Next steps: staff will circulate the fall meeting schedule and letters‑of‑support guidance; targeted departmental sign‑offs will be requested for projects the committee flags at Saturday’s site visits.
