The Concord public health nurse reported on Sept. 23 that the town’s public health needs assessment has received "over 300 respondents in Concord" and is expected to conclude by mid‑October to allow a Boston University intern to assist with data analysis.
The nurse outlined several upcoming clinics: a Council on Aging flu clinic on Oct. 17, an employee and school‑staff clinic on Oct. 9 (school‑staff-only 2:00–2:30 p.m., then open to all employees 2:30–4:00 p.m.), and a state-run flu clinic at the Concord Shelter on Oct. 21. Homebound vaccine scheduling is available through Acton Pharmacy, the health office said.
She also reported that the health office has reordered COVID test kits after running out in August and recently saw a modest rise in COVID cases with travel and school reopenings. For August the health office listed case counts: 32 COVID positives, 16 Lyme disease, 2 salmonella, 1 Giardia, 2 campylobacter, 1 hepatitis C and 1 hepatitis B.
The department has provided Narcan training and opioid‑awareness outreach and has delivered several preparedness backpacks to older residents through the Council on Aging. Staffing updates included that office coordinator Ebony will begin maternity leave in a few weeks and that the department will onboard temporary staff member Arianna White to cover duties during the roughly 12‑week leave.
The report detailed ongoing operational work including food‑vendor permitting for town events and collaborative emergency‑preparedness efforts with fire and library partners.
