Concord pollinator committee hails Ag Day turnout, plans mapping, signage and outreach events

Isabelle, the member coordinating Ag Day follow-up, thanked volunteer Wilson Kerr for running a children’s spin-wheel activity that drew families to the committee booth. "We need to send a big thank you to Wilson Kerr — he did a huge job," Isabelle said. Members also credited Leah for designing quiet, effective children’s activities that fit well with the event.
The committee resolved to compile paper questionnaires collected at Ag Day into a single address list and to use either the town GIS contact or a private Google Earth Pro approach to create a pin map of respondents. Volunteers agreed to type addresses into a shared spreadsheet and to share that file with the town GIS contact or to create a private Google Earth Pro map for internal use.
Members discussed practical next steps for outreach: producing laminated signs and banners to identify the committee at crowded tables, printing copies of an invasive-plants packet that drew interest at Ag Day, and preparing small framed signs for cramped library tables. Leah will contact signmaker Billy Crosby about printing and laminating options; Lois and Leah will coordinate on sizes and content.
Isabelle outlined a short events calendar built from attendee interest: an invasive-species walk (to be led by Will Holden, the land manager, pending availability), a transplant workshop in early summer, and continued property visits for residents who asked for pollinator-pathway consultations. The committee also agreed on basic staffing for the next meeting cycle: Lois will chair the October meeting, Leah will take minutes, and Mark will continue to manage the town Zoom setup.
The committee will circulate draft minutes and the compiled spreadsheet of Ag Day contacts to members for review. The next scheduled meeting is October 8; members said the mapping and sign production are priority tasks before that date.
