The Ft. Zumwalt R-II Board of Education voted to keep the 2024–25 tax rate unchanged at 4.2346 per valuation and received an update on the district’s superintendent search process and outreach timeline.
District staff presented the tax recommendation, saying the rate would remain at 4.2346. The levy components reported were: general fund 1.5412, special teachers 1.97, debt service 1.6534 and capital projects 0.07. The board moved, seconded and approved the recommendation.
On the superintendent search, staff said the position has been posted and that the district will run a community-based survey to gather input; the survey was scheduled to go live the coming Friday with a two-week response window and expected to close Oct. 4, and the application deadline for candidates was set for Oct. 11. Staff said survey access would be available to staff, parents and the public at events and through QR codes and other district communication channels; they also noted they were avoiding paid search-firm expenses at this stage and would use survey feedback to help screen applicants.
No action was required for the search update; staff said they would return to the board with condensed survey results and applicant materials as the process moves forward.
