Ft. Zumwalt R-II presents bond-funded construction progress across district schools

Staff reported a two-story classroom wing at North Middle School is under construction and on schedule for completion by winter break; site work and remaining library/cafeteria renovations at that campus are slated for completion in mid‑2025. At North High, the new commons addition is complete and in use; finishing work on a combined storm-shelter/multi‑purpose area and entrance is expected to finish in December. The Mike Clements Center received a roughly 13,000-square-foot addition before the school year began, which staff said includes a storm shelter, multipurpose area, staff work rooms and classrooms.
Facilities staff also described districtwide systems work done over the summer: replacement or removal of approximately 132 unit ventilators at four elementary schools (St. Peter’s, Lewis and Clark, Hawthorne and Twin Chimneys), corridor and classroom flooring replacements at multiple buildings, restroom tile replacement, auditorium seating and lighting upgrades at South and North High, and a new gym floor at West High.
Staff noted the projects addressed aging equipment and improved circulation and learning spaces. The update included photographs and project timelines in the board packet; no board action was required on the update itself.
Board members thanked staff and contractors for completing projects tied to the bond and noted improved facilities and student experience as visible results of the work.
