Ochterkirk used his remarks to highlight a few signature programs — especially an adaptive floor-hockey event that brings together students, band and cheer for an inclusive evening — and emphasized the contributions of many staff and volunteers, saying the award is “a shared award” and naming administrative assistant Nancy Benson, head coaches, advisors, site managers and maintenance staff as essential to running events.
Board members praised Ochterkirk’s leadership and noted the wider benefits of extracurricular activities for student engagement. The board recognized Ochterkirk with congratulations before moving on to other agenda items.
