Auditor absent; Clayton council postpones audit presentation to May 6, closes with condolences

The Clayton City Council agreed on April 15 to postpone presentation of the audited annual comprehensive financial report after the auditor from Siobhan & Associates (Sheldon) was not present.
Staff explained Sheldon had the date confused and offered an alternate presenter, Paul, who was involved in the audit data gathering. Council members discussed whether to proceed with Paul or wait for the primary auditor; the council decided to reschedule the presentation for the May 6 meeting. Staff noted the audit must be completed by June 30.
Earlier in the meeting the council approved the consent calendar item to accept the April 1 meeting minutes. The motion to approve was moved and seconded and passed by recorded voice vote with five affirmative votes: Council Member Diaz (yes), Enea (yes), Ania Tillman (aye), Vice Mayor Wann (aye), and Mayor Trevino (yes).
The council went into closed session and returned with nothing to report out to the public.
In closing remarks, Council Member Diaz announced that Brent Dawson, 59, a longtime caretaker and maintenance worker for the local bocce courts, died April 7 and services are pending. "He will be missed," Diaz said.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:43 p.m.
