Anoka-Hennepin honors transportation safety coordinator and student poster contest winners; Monroe Elementary wins PLTW recognition

The board recognized Jeff Mueller as the 2024 Minnesota Association of Pupil Transportation Administrator of the Year, honored student winners of the 2024 school bus safety poster contest (including a national entrant), and celebrated Monroe Elementary’s fourth consecutive Project Lead The Way Distinguished Launch designation.
The board paused its business to recognize district achievements.
Jeff Mueller, Anoka Hennepin Schools Transportation Safety Coordinator, was named the 2024 Minnesota Association of Pupil Transportation Administrator of the Year. Greg Cole (COO) and BJ Isen (director of transportation) described Mueller’s 25 years in the district, his statewide MAPT involvement and leadership of student-safety initiatives. The board invited Mueller and district transportation leaders for a district photo.
Mueller also introduced state and national winners of the 2024 Minnesota school bus safety poster contest, noting that winners attended a Twins game, saw their posters on the Jumbotron, and one contestant advanced to a national competition.
Monroe Elementary was recognized as a Project Lead The Way (PLTW) distinguished launch school, one of eight elementary schools in Minnesota to receive the honor. Principal Amy Oliver and curriculum integrator Kristen Cantons described the PLTW Launch curriculum and teacher training that allow K–5 students to complete progressive STEM modules.
These recognitions were ceremonial and did not require board action.
