The board on Sept. 23 authorized a new one-year master agreement for the district’s school readiness and kindergarten readiness preschool teachers represented by Anoka-Hennepin Education Minnesota, effective July 1, 2024 through June 30, 2025.
Dr. Cherry summarized the key elements: movement of preschool teachers onto a new hourly salary grid equivalent to the district’s early childhood/Family Education teachers (depending on placement on the schedule), a district retirement match (up to $2,000 per year) eligible on a revised timeline, and a total cost to the district just over $2 million (a change of approximately $111,500, roughly a 5.8% package). The board approved the agreement 6-0.
Dr. Cherry also provided a labor-relations update: paraeducators have filed for mediation and the district will meet with the Bureau of Mediation Services on Oct. 2; Education Office Professionals have met multiple times with a further meeting scheduled Oct. 9. Dr. Cherry said most remaining open items across groups are financial in nature and that the district continues to keep negotiation status updates on the district website.
