Council approves several facility and contract items; tables bus‑barn driveway bid

Council approved multiple contract and facilities requests during the meeting.

Architecture Inc.: Council approved a pay request for $6,630 as the final fixed-fee payment on the architecture contract for the city hall project. Staff said one additional payout remains to reconcile outstanding electrical work and punch-list items.

Change order no. 2: Staff presented Change Order No. 2 for the city hall project in the amount of $22,849, described as miscellaneous time-and-materials items previously approved on site; council approved the change order.

Norby's: Staff presented bids for replacing a 20‑year-old heating/air unit at the Norby's building and for patching the curb around the unit. The recommended work, to be paid from the liquor fund, includes replacement of the unit and patching (discussed cost: ~$16,000 for unit plus ~$2,000 for patching/electrical). Council approved replacement and associated patching.

Bus barn driveway: Engineering and staff reviewed a $10,965 bid to correct steep grade and rock issues at the Dells Express bus barn driveway (state and transit authority concerns were noted). Council discussed whether public works could complete the work internally and whether Clarence (public works) approved the specifications; the council voted to table the bid to the Sept. 3 meeting pending confirmation from Clarence and a reassessment of in‑house capacity.

Cleaning contract and library: Council approved a contract with Elite Cleaning for event cleanings at the Riverside facility and granted the library’s request to close for carpet cleaning. The Elite Cleaning contractor was described as insured, bonded and experienced with commercial references.
