Town administrator Ed reported that the state offered Jamestown a $100,000 reallocated grant to advance design for a shared bike/ped pathway connecting Eldred Avenue soccer field to the golf course.
Staff said the concept would refine an early design completed in 2021, potentially repurpose slip lanes as green space or parking near Eldred Avenue and Canonicus Avenue, and consider a three-way stop to slow traffic and improve crossing safety. The design could also explore a shared pathway on one side of East Shore Road and rework parking adjacent to Potter’s Cove.
Ed told the council staff will continue design discussions with state Department of Transportation (DOT) and bring a finalized plan back for future funding opportunities; the grant authorization was included on the consent agenda for consideration at this meeting.
