Town staff presented a multi-page spreadsheet that compiles Jamestown’s short-term rental data ahead of the next renewal season, showing the town’s current mix of licensed and unlicensed properties and environmental constraints.
According to the administrator’s briefing, the packet includes every piece of data collected: septic and well status, bedroom counts and violation history. Staff reported 14 currently registered short-term rentals, about 33 additional properties with pending or unlicensed issues, 52 properties either licensed or in process that are on septic systems, 41 on private wells, 27 properties in the High Water District, about 100 currently using town water and 89 on town sewer; staff said the spreadsheet was compiled by Roberta with assistance from Carrie Kolb.
Administrator Ed told the council staff is still developing a methodology to verify neighbor complaints and to resolve complaints ahead of renewals. Council members praised the spreadsheet as “incredible” and said the groundwater/high-water mapping will help refine ordinance language and enforcement priorities.
