The Dell Rapids City Council approved purchasing ClearGov, a cloud-based budget book tool staff said will make municipal budget information more accessible to residents and reduce staff time spent preparing the printed budget.
Finance staff told the council ClearGov integrates with the city’s ENCODE accounting system, allowing monthly data exports and more legible online displays. The purchase includes a one-time setup fee of $1,800 and an annual subscription fee of $5,500. Staff recommended beginning onboarding in early 2025 to avoid potential price increases.
Council members asked about ongoing support and potential yearly increases; staff said ClearGov provides support and that typical subscription increases for vendor services vary but are commonly in the low single digits. Staff proposed a February onboarding with a March 1 go-live for the public site and monthly updates thereafter.
