Council approves engineering task order, multiple permits and contracts; hires one officer
Summary
At its Sept. 11 meeting the Mobridge City Council approved an engineering task order for the water-plant rehab, hired a police officer, approved a bathroom remodel quote, selected a lower-cost generator service, accepted an airport grant agreement and authorized multiple temporary liquor licenses and a liquor-license transfer.
The Mobridge City Council voted on a series of routine and project-related items on Sept. 11, approving engineering work, personnel action and several contracts and permits.
Key actions taken:
- Personnel: Council approved hiring Lily Plumb as a police officer at $21.20 per hour, effective Sept. 3. The motion passed on a roll call.
- Engineering and infrastructure: Council approved task order #2 for additional engineering on the water-plant rehabilitation in the amount of $299,762 and directed staff to proceed with Moore Engineering's Alternative 4 for state review (see separate article for details).
- Parks/facilities and contracts: Council approved a $27,600 quote from Blankerts Construction to remodel the MYO bathrooms (reallocating funds from the East Play Park line item), and approved a lower annual quote ($9,700) for maintenance of six city generators after comparing it to a Cummins quote of approximately $13,000.
- Airport grant: Council approved the state's portion of an airport master plan grant (state share approximately $18,011); the federal government will cover the majority of the project cost.
- Temporary and transfer liquor licenses: Council approved multiple temporary on-sale liquor licenses for community events (Lake Oahe Learning Academy pheasant races; Mobridge Pink Ladies tournament; Mobridge Chamber ice-fishing tournament; Mobile Jodie Association fundraiser; Denny Palmer Memorial Classic) and approved a transfer/legal-description update for the Wrangler Inn on-sale liquor license.
- Financial housekeeping: Council approved payment of the bills and adjourned the meeting.
