Jamestown council sworn in; Nancy Baez chosen council president, Eric Bryan vice president

At a special swearing-in meeting, Jamestown officials were sworn in and the council elected Nancy Baez president and Eric Bryan vice president by unanimous voice votes. The council approved liquor-license renewals, short-term rental permits and set meeting scheduling and training plans.
Jamestown held a special meeting and swearing-in ceremony in which newly elected town officials were formally sworn and council leadership was chosen.
Judge Francis J. Darigan Jr. administered the oath of office to the newly elected town council, school committee members and the town moderator. “It’s indeed an honor and a a a pleasure for me to be here this evening to perform this ministerial act,” Darigan said before leading officials through the oath.
After the oaths, council members nominated and voted on leadership posts. A councilor nominated Nancy Baez to serve as council president, praising her listening skills; the nomination was seconded and approved by voice vote. A separate nomination for Eric Bryan to serve as vice president was also seconded and approved. Both leadership elections passed unanimously.
The council then moved into the public-hearing portion of its agenda and took up routine business. The body approved a Class BV liquor-license renewal for The White Bread Company LLC for the 12/02/2024–11/30/2025 licensing period and granted a full Class B conversion to Our Table LLC after members noted letters of support for that business.
On the consent agenda the council approved three short-term rental permits at 41 Top Of The Mark Drive (Greg Banas), 46 Steamboat Street (Merrill Allen) and 78 Frigate Street (Andrea Colonese).
The meeting also set near-term housekeeping items: the council approved a revised meeting calendar entry to accommodate school schedules and scheduled a joint budget work session with the school committee on December 16 at 5:30 p.m. Staff and members agreed to attend an ethics and open-meetings training scheduled for January.
The council adjourned after completing the evening’s business.
