Speaker 6 described the need to revise routes because the city has seen growth in apartment complexes and added streets such as Liberty and Independence Loop; the city’s previous route map had not been updated for some time. Staff explained that, by law, the revised map and related ordinance must be published twice in the local newspaper and posted in the code of ordinances and on the city website.
Speaker 4 moved to approve the revised priority snow routes as Resolution 2024-19; the motion was seconded and carried. Staff said they would notify affected apartment managers directly where appropriate and post the updated map when the ordinance process is complete.
Commissioners discussed sign placement and enforcement challenges (for example, cars parked in no-parking zones can hinder snow clearance) and noted a plan for public notice and targeted outreach to property managers where route changes affect concentrated residential areas.
The resolution will be incorporated into city code and posted publicly following the legally required notice.
