Commission approves 2025 economic-development contract allocating $50,000 toward coordinator post

Amanda Anglin, executive director of the Sturgis Economic Development Corporation (SEDC), presented an updated professional-services agreement the commission reviewed on Nov. 7. Anglin said the contract is "basically the same as what we currently have in place for 2024" with an updated funding arrangement for 2025.
The contract as presented includes four primary duties for the consultant and increases the city—s allocation to $50,000, which the presentation described as covering 50% of the economic-development coordinator position (the total value of that position was cited as $100,000, with the other 50% to be covered by SEDC).
Commissioners discussed whether to include a monthly-update requirement in the written contract. Anglin said the SEDC already provides monthly updates and would continue to do so; the commission can, but need not, codify that requirement in the contract.
A motion to move the updated SEDC contract was made and seconded; the commission approved the motion by voice vote. Anglin said she would take the document to the SEDC board for final execution and provide full signature copies to the city.
Next steps: Staff and SEDC will finalize signatures and the city will budget and track the $50,000 allocation toward the coordinator position in the 2025 fiscal plan.
