Mobridge — At its regular meeting the city council approved several administrative and finance items, including personnel changes, facility repairs and license renewals, and voted to pay the city’s bills.
The council approved creating the housing director position and its job description. It then approved promoting Monica Winiger to library director, raising her hourly pay from $20.60 to $24.60 effective Oct. 21, 2024; council members noted the library board had approved the appointment and that state law governs library director appointments.
The council approved increasing firefighter Colton Hunter’s rate to $29.20 per hour (from $26.80) for out‑of‑state firefighting reimbursements and agreed to repair the pool slide using reserve funds. The repair estimate for the slide was $85,918 and the pool reserve balance listed in the packet was $84,331; council approved using the reserve to fund the repair so the slide can be ready for next summer.
Council approved renewals for a slate of liquor licenses, naming Merkle’s, Mobridge Pit Stop, Last Chance, Stoics Inc., O’Keg Kramer Inc., American Legion, Madrigal, KB Hospitality, Moose Club, Silver Dollar, Dean Ulmer, Dollar General and Family Dollar. Council also approved hiring concession and event staff at $12 per hour for the Rotary Classic event scheduled Dec. 21 at Sher Howe and approved a single cemetery deed transfer.
Council approved payment of bills totaling $726,175.41. The chair closed the meeting with a Thanksgiving greeting and the council adjourned.
