The Barrington Town Council unanimously voted to direct the planning board to incorporate the Ready and Resilient Barrington Climate Action Plan into the town—s comprehensive plan, subject to the statutory amendment process.
Council President and other members emphasized the plan—s conclusions, including the need for a stormwater expert and a grants administrator, and noted the town faces about 10 inches of anticipated sea‑level rise on average over the next 30 years. Councilors said adopting the plan into the comprehensive plan will strengthen grant eligibility and provide a blueprint for coordinated investments in resilience and mitigation.
A motion by Councilor Burrage to direct the planning board to incorporate the plan passed by unanimous roll call. Councilors urged residents to review the plan presentation posted online and flagged potential next steps for school‑district collaboration and pilot projects.
