Barrington council continues Carmelite Monastery purchase-and-sale to Jan. 13

Council accepted the solicitor’s request to continue action on the Carmelite Monastery purchase-and-sale (25 Watson Ave) to the Jan. 13, 2025 meeting after the solicitor said a few details remain to be resolved and a planning-board pre-application has taken place.
The Barrington Town Council on Nov. 25 agreed to continue discussion and action on the proposed purchase-and-sale agreement for the Carmelite Monastery at 25 Watson Avenue until its Jan. 13, 2025 meeting. The council’s solicitor said the project was approved by the council last spring and by the financial town meeting but that a few details remain to be worked out.
"This was approved by the council last spring and approved by the financial town meeting," the solicitor said, and asked the council to continue the item so staff could complete the paperwork and finalize outstanding conditions. Council leadership moved to continue the item and the motion was seconded and approved unanimously.
The council chair said the continued schedule will allow the solicitor and town staff to finalize the purchase-and-sale paperwork and present a complete recommendation at the January meeting.
