Board accepts multiple retirements, a resignation and approves labor contracts

The Board of Education on Dec. 16 voted to accept numerous staff retirements effective June 30, 2025, and approved a resignation and two labor contracts.
Under the instructional committee item, motions to accept retirements for long-serving educators were read aloud and approved individually. Retirements included Michael Rico (effective 06/30/2025), Melissa Dulac (06/30/2025), Wendy Fredrickson (06/30/2025), Tina Kell (06/30/2025), Maureen Kovacs (06/30/2025), Wendy Marinelli (06/30/2025), Laura McCall (06/30/2025), Anita Pelletier (06/30/2025), Sarah Reynolds (06/30/2025), Stacey Roberts (06/30/2025), Jennifer Zuroski (06/30/2025), Robert Zurawoski (06/30/2025), Anne Veron Lederle (06/30/2025), Jacqueline Valentine (06/30/2025) and others read during the meeting; each motion was seconded and approved.
The board also accepted the resignation of Alexandra German (effective 12/03/2024). The board approved a multi-year contract between the Wallingford Board of Education and the Board of Education Computer (07/01/2024–06/30/2028) and ratified a contract with the Educational Administrators Association of Wallingford (07/01/2025–06/30/2028). Each contract motion carried after board discussion and voice votes.
Board members thanked retiring staff and acknowledged the expense of consultant work and community concerns raised earlier in the meeting. No financial totals for the contracts were presented during the public discussion portion of the meeting; information was included in the meeting packet and will be recorded in official minutes.
