The Instructional Committee reviewed a draft 'Portrait of a Graduate' framework on Nov. 4 and voted to forward it to the full board for placement on the consent agenda at the end of the month.
Speaker 7, who presented the document developed with Jonathan Costa of EdAdvance, said the committee — composed of board members, administrators, teachers, parents and students — crafted student-friendly statements describing the skills and competencies the district expects students to have by graduation. "These are our desired outcomes for them," the presenter said, describing attributes such as integrity, empathy, curiosity and perseverance.
The presenter said the document will be shared with staff for interpretation and with families after staff rollout. Committee members expressed appreciation for the work and for the committee’s contributions. The document will be considered by the full board at its next regular meeting.
