District awards architect for adult education site; Pond Hill boilers finished with no change orders

District staff told the operations committee on Dec. 9 that the architecture/design contract for the adult education and Wallingford Transition Academy build-out was awarded to Silver Petrucelli and that the district is planning a phased move: adult education would relocate in the summer, with central office moving afterward.
"That was awarded last week...to Silver Petrucelli," Ms. Belizzi said, adding the purchase price for the building included estimated build-out costs and that the town will process bills associated with the work. Staff said the team will schedule meetings with the architect to develop design documents and get the project started.
Facilities director Mr. Deptula reported that the Pond Hill boiler project was finished without change orders and that new Knox lock boxes will be picked up and installed in schools. He said Southport Contracting is working to get the Lyman Hall boiler set and running by the end of the month, which would allow the district to end a rental-boiler arrangement if no delays occur. Civil engineering services for the track and field are expected by the end of the month or in January.
What happens next: Staff will meet with Silver Petrucelli to develop educational and design specifications for the adult-education build-out and will present progress and timeline details to the full board as part of contract and project oversight.
