Madison authorizes change orders for Trojan Village streets and Public Works building

The City of Madison Commission on July 15 authorized several change orders tied to developer and city construction projects.
For Trojan Village street construction (change order No. 4), engineering staff said contractors encountered very soft subgrade and recommended geofabric installation plus undercut and thicker aggregate. Ryan explained the city’s share of costs would include $16,082.85 for geofabric installation and $1,275 for undercutting; the commission authorized the mayor to sign the change order.
For the Public Works building renovation, staff presented two change orders. Change order No. 2 increases the contract by $8,395 to replace fixed storefront windows with operable windows to allow ventilation in vehicle and equipment repair areas. Change order No. 3 extends the contract timeline by 56 days because custom door slabs and some windows have long lead times. The commission approved both change orders.
