Exeter honors longtime town solicitor Jim Ruzak ahead of retirement

Ruzak thanked the council and staff and emphasized an apolitical approach to the solicitor’s role. “When things get hot and there’s a contentious issue…always try to take a second and try to place yourself in the other person’s shoes,” he said, urging colleagues to focus on the town’s interests.
Council members said the presentation acknowledged both years of service and Ruzak’s guidance during major matters. The recognition included remarks from current and former council presidents and brief gifts intended to mark his retirement in the coming months.
The council did not take formal action on personnel matters at the meeting beyond the public recognition.
